Our income is mainly from visitors fees and with that we have to pay Boat Crossings, Warden and Assist. Warden's Salaries, diesel for the generator and central heating, calor gas for cooking, transporting your luggage up to the Observatory, buying all the ringing equipment and rings, maintaining the accommodation at Cristin and the other buildings.  This includes servicing, replacing and repairing all equipment in the kitchen, the beds and furniture, and even buying loo rolls.  Every year before any visitors arrive in the spring, we have a voluntary group over who carry out a lot of repairs and maintenance work to the buildings inside, particularly painting.  And there are many more items we have to pay for over each year to make it a pleasant and comfortable place where you can have a happy stay.

We are always on the look out for all sorts of things and this page will list the items we currently need.  We are printing them here just in case there is someone out there who can help us, either with donating them to the Observatory, or making us a cash donation to enable us to purchase them.   If you are able to help, please go to our Contacts Page and let one of the officers or the Warden know what you can offer.  We will then suggest how best to get your gift to the island, probably via someone in your area travelling to the island, or to a Council Member near you, or bring along to our next Council Meeting.

A second refrigerator for Cristin for summer use.

Small Electric Table Lamps (for bedrooms).  New ones please that conform to current Safety Regulations.

Peanuts (but NOT Mixed Seed) for Feeders

We are always looking for good quality items for the Kitchen, e.g. crockery, pans and cutlery.   However, it needs to be VERY GOOD QUALITY and not broken, cracked or damaged things.  We would therefore prefer it that if you wished to donate kitchen equipment, that you donated cash for the particular purchase of NEW equipment OR BUY BRAND NEW YOURSELF.

ITEMS NEEDED NOW:  Baking Trays, Very Good Quality Stainless Steel Saucepan, Wooden Chopping Boards, Tea Towels, Heavy Duty Doormats.
